Philippine Vessels Intrude Into Waters Off Huangyan Dao; China Coast Guard Issues Statement
China Coast Guard spokesperson Jiang Lue stated that on July 23, two Philippine government vessels, 3012 and 3018, disregarded China's repeated dissuasion and warnings and deliberately intruded into the waters under China's jurisdiction off Huangyan Dao. In accordance with the law, the China Coast Guard took necessary measures against the Philippine vessels — including tracking and monitoring, forcing them outward, and blocking and control — to drive them away. The on-site operations were professional, standardized, justified and lawful. Huangyan Dao is China's inherent territory. We urge the Philippine side to immediately stop its infringing and provocative actions. The China Coast Guard will, in accordance with the law, continue to carry out rights-protection and law-enforcement activities in the waters of Huangyan Dao, and resolutely safeguard national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
