Mount Taishan Scenic Area Responds to Construction of Razor Wire Fencing: Not Intersecting or Overlapping with Normal Tourist Routes
The Mount Taishan Scenic Area Management Committee issued a letter to netizens on July 2:
Recently, information regarding "Mount Taishan Scenic Area constructing roller-type razor wire isolation fencing" has drawn attention from all sectors of society. The Mount Taishan Scenic Area Management Committee attaches great importance to this, sincerely accepts everyone's supervision and criticism, and extends its heartfelt gratitude to all members of society who care about the protection and development of Mount Taishan.
The roller-type razor wire isolation fencing reported by netizens is mainly distributed in non-open areas, non-tourist areas, and dangerous sections, and does not cross or overlap with normal tourist routes. Over the past two days, based on the situation reported by netizens, we have organized personnel to conduct surveys and inspections at the forest frontline.
Mount Taishan is the largest state-owned forest farm in Shandong Province, a national scenic area, and a national 5A-level tourist attraction, undertaking multiple tasks such as forest fire prevention and tourist safety. According to Article 34 of the "Forest Law of the People's Republic of China" and Article 36 of the "Scenic Area Regulations," balancing fire safety, tourist safety, and ecological security, the construction of this isolation fencing has been carried out in phases since 2020, with reserved passages for fire rescue, agricultural and forestry production, and free open areas for fitness and leisure. Currently, Mount Taishan has five compliant mountain-climbing tourist routes, along which most natural and cultural attractions are distributed, granting tourists full visitation rights.
In the next step, we will organize experts in forestry, fire protection, environmental protection, cultural tourism, law, and other fields to conduct comprehensive evaluations. Adhering to the principles of ecology, safety, and friendliness, we will continuously optimize and improve relevant work measures, further strengthen digital and intelligent applications, and better protect the Mount Taishan World Cultural and Natural Heritage through more humanized and refined service management.
