Shanghai 'Mega Mall' Officially Opens! Second Largest in the City, Direct Access via Two Metro Lines

The long-awaited Shanghai commercial mega mall — Xinjia Center (新嘉中心) — has finally officially opened!

This commercial complex, the second largest in Shanghai and the largest in Pudong, opened its doors on the morning of June 30. It houses nearly 500 brands, 78% of which are first stores or specialty stores, filling the gap for large-scale, high-quality commercial facilities in northern Pudong and adding a powerful engine to Shanghai's efforts to build an international consumption center city.

Largest in Pudong, Second Largest in Shanghai — Shoppers Queue in the Rain

Before 10 AM yesterday, long queues had already formed at the mall entrance on Jufeng Road. Many citizens were eager to be among the first consumers and not miss the opening promotions.

One shopper said: "I came on the first trial opening day and I'm back again today."

Another said: "It's great, very convenient." As the mall officially opened, a young man eager to snag deals enjoyed a complimentary milk tea from the opening event.

"I got it for free," one shopper said.

"It feels really good, definitely the best mall in the area," another added.

The supermarket in the basement was packed with shoppers. The opening promotions had people who traveled specially exclaiming how great the deals were.

"It's so cheap, already so cheap. We bought a lot," a shopper said.

Li Hailong, general manager of the supermarket, said: "We have a 10% off promotion across the entire store for the opening."

On the fourth floor, there is a premium fitness brand offering gym and swimming facilities.

Lu Dajin, general manager of the fitness center, said: "Besides swimming, we have fitness, Pilates, boxing, and Les Mills classes."

Xinjia Center covers approximately 430,000 square meters, with about 360,000 square meters of commercial and office space, nearly 500 stores, and about 2,000 parking spaces. Citywide, its scale will be second only to Songjiang Impressions City, which spans about 405,000 square meters in its first two phases, with the second phase expected to be completed and operational by 2027.

It is understood that the consumption needs of over 2 million permanent residents in northern Pudong have long spilled over to other areas. The opening of Xinjia Center will fill this gap, injecting new vitality into Pudong and Shanghai's efforts to build an international consumption center.

How to get to this commercial mega mall? It is located in the core area of Pudong's Jinqiao sub-center, right at the Jufeng Road station of Metro Lines 6 and 12. Line 6 connects important areas of Pudong, while Line 12 is known as the "king of transfers." Lines 21 and 22 are also under construction in the area, making transportation very convenient.

Xinjia Center also features distinctive architectural design. The mall's exterior highlights waterfront space characteristics, with a 400-meter landscape walkway along the riverbank, providing diverse outdoor space experiences for pet recreation and parent-child interaction. The stepped exterior facade and multi-atrium interior design, with connections between the rooftop and indoor-outdoor spaces, keep customers engaged throughout the entire circulation.

Inside, the mall features five themed spaces: Star Avenue, Gravity Center, Deep Sea Wonderland, Ice-Fire Realm, and Floating Green Island. Through the glass curtain walls, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the natural river scenery outside, with rich green landscapes bringing the architecture to life.

At night, the venue will use light, music, and food to bring visitors a vibrant nightlife experience!
