Henan's Luohe Cracks Down on "Blended NFC Juice" Scandal: Two Firms Placed Under Investigation, Three Others Probed

On July 16, reporters learned from the Food Safety Office of the Luohe Municipal Government in Henan Province that, in response to media reports on July 14 alleging that the "NFC juice" of several Henan companies was actually blended rather than pure — an issue that had drawn widespread public attention — Luohe responded immediately. That same day, it mobilized the local government together with market regulation, public security and other departments to launch an in-depth investigation into the five companies involved.

According to a preliminary local investigation, Henan Zanyang Beverage Co., Ltd. and Luohe Shennong Biotechnology Co., Ltd. are suspected of false labeling and have been placed on file for investigation in accordance with the law. Both have been ordered to immediately remove and recall all non-compliant products. The remaining three companies are still under further investigation; once any illegal conduct is confirmed, they will be dealt with seriously in line with laws and regulations.

A person in charge of the Luohe Municipal Government Food Safety Office said the city will launch a special citywide rectification campaign targeting key industries such as beverages. Toward any false labeling or conduct that harms consumers' rights and interests, the city will maintain a stance of "zero tolerance" — punishing every case that is uncovered and showing no leniency.
