Eight Trapped Rescued at Chongqing Pengshui Landslide Site; Number Still Buried Unconfirmed
At 9:08 a.m. on July 17, a sudden landslide struck Hanjia Subdistrict in Pengshui, Chongqing, causing multiple residential buildings below to collapse. According to preliminary verification, around 8:00 a.m. on the 17th, a community grid worker spotted sporadic rockfalls and issued an emergency warning; local authorities promptly organized the safe evacuation of more than 60 residents. During the evacuation, a secondary landslide occurred, burying some people; the exact number remains to be further confirmed.
As of 11:38 a.m., eight trapped individuals had been rescued and immediately taken to hospital for treatment; none are currently in life-threatening condition. Search and rescue operations are now in full swing.
Under the coordination of the Ministry of Emergency Management, the China Aneng Chongqing Rescue Team deployed 100 personnel, rushing to the scene with 50 units (sets) of specialized equipment for engineering rescue and detection and search operations.
