Signing ceremony for the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization held in Shanghai

On July 16, the signing ceremony for the agreement establishing the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization was held in Shanghai. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the ceremony and signed the agreement on behalf of the Chinese government.

The agreement stipulates that the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization is an independent intergovernmental international organization. Guided by the purposes of the UN Charter and the vision of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, and adhering to a people-centered principle, it aims to promote international cooperation and global governance on artificial intelligence, ensuring that AI develops in a healthy and orderly manner toward beneficial, safe and equitable outcomes that benefit all humanity. The organization's headquarters is located in Shanghai, China.

Representatives from 29 countries signed the agreement and became founding member states, including Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan; Thongsavanh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos; Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan; Oreshkin, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia; and Airlangga, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of Indonesia. Representatives from countries and international organizations, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, attended the ceremony.
