Beijing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection Reports May Enforcement Results

Beijing Daily reported on June 26 that the Beijing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection recently released the summary of violations of the Central Eight-Point Regulation spirit investigated and dealt with in May this year. In May, the city investigated a total of 136 violations, with 141 individuals subjected to criticism, education, and handling, of which 122 received Party discipline or government disciplinary sanctions.

By type of violations: In May, 49 cases involved failure to fulfill responsibilities, inaction, reckless action, and false action in performing duties, serving economic and social development, and ecological environmental protection — seriously affecting high-quality development — accounting for 87.5% of all formalism and bureaucracy cases investigated that month. Among the hedonism and extravagance cases, violations involving the illegal acceptance of valuable specialties and gifts, illegal wining and dining, use of public funds for travel, and acceptance of travel arrangements arranged by management or service targets accounted for 55%, 28.8%, and 7.5% of the monthly total, respectively.

By level of those investigated: In May, the city investigated 3 cases at the bureau level, 23 at the department level, and 110 at the section level and below. Cases at the section level and below accounted for 80.9% of the total cases investigated that month.
