Changde, Hunan Confirms and Removes SOE Chairman Who Accepted Gifts in Office

On July 12, the joint investigation task force of the West Lake Management District in Changde, Hunan Province, issued a situation report.

Recently, online reports alleged that Zhang Xiang, a state-owned enterprise chief in West Lake, Changde, accepted gifts and cash from construction company bosses during the Dragon Boat Festival. The West Lake Management District Party Committee attached great importance to the matter and, without delay, established a joint investigation team composed of multiple departments—including the District Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, the District Party Committee Office, and the District Party Committee's Organization, Publicity and United Front Work Department—to conduct an investigation. Preliminary findings indicate the allegations are largely true. In accordance with Articles 3, 5, and 7 of the Regulations on Organizational Handling of Party Members (Interim), and following deliberation, Zhang Xiang was removed from his post on the morning of July 12.

The investigation is currently ongoing. Related issues will be dealt with seriously and in strict accordance with Party discipline and state laws, with no tolerance shown. The results of the follow-up investigation and handling will be made public in a timely manner.
